As we approach the dates for businesses to reopen across Michigan, I have had questions from tenants regarding what new policies will be implemented within the buildings we manage and workplace safety and COVID19.

Because we manage multi-tenant buildings, we must rely on our tenants to work together to help ensure safety in the workplace.


The State of Michigan has a very comprehensive website put together to address COVID19 workplace safety.

We are deferring to that website and encourage you to utilize it to reopen your business safely and within the letter of the law in Michigan.


Several of our Tenants have requested in writing that COVID19 related directives be issued solely within their companies and that the Landlord NOT issue directives to their respective employees to avoid confusion.

There are industry-related guidelines as well as checklists, posters, and templates of sample documents you may find useful in organizing your reopening.


It is a requirement of the State of Michigan that every business develops a COVID-19 preparedness and response plan, consistent with recommendations in Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19, developed by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration and available at by June 1, 2020, or within two weeks of resuming in-person activities, whichever is later, a business’s or operation’s plan must be made readily available to employees, labor unions, and customers, whether via the website, internal network or by hard copy.
